Editors note – Motorola seem that they are getting out radios like they are candy nowadays, the digital revolution has really provided Motorola a second wind and they are, as customary, pushing the boundaries of the 2 way radio marketplace. This contemporary walkie talkie the Dp 2400, is full fat digital and i have tested it for the few weeks it’s very comparable size to a lot of other of the present walkie talkies, but having a different connection variety. The form is similar to other present 2 way radios, but i believe the price will make a massive difference to small firms and individuals, anyway here is a incredibly rare assessment of the two way radio.
A walkie talkie has to be in a position to work swiftly and efficiently. They have to be simple to work with, strongly made and multi-faceted enough to appeal to many different users. Fortunately, Motorola are very excellent at fulfilling these standards. So, with that at heart, we put the Motorola dp2400 through its paces.
THE SPECS
The clarity of digital audio is undeniable. But if you still prefer analogue, then do not despair. The DP 2400 is totally comfortable handling both analogue and digital frequencies.
But there’s much more it is able to do besides that.
The Dp2400 can even use its ‘IP Site Connect’ function to open out the capability of the device via the Internet. Additionally, the ‘capacity plus’ function can use just one-site trunking system to enable over a thousand voice or data transfer-users without adding any new frequencies. It can even use an (optional) ‘linked capacity plus’ feature (a multi-site version of the ‘capacity plus’ function) that works in tandem with the IP functionality to make sure even broader fields of communication over greater areas.
There’s even an enhanced security function.
The Motorola DP 2400 also comes in both VHF and UHF forms.
THE PRICE
It’s much affordable, yet high spec, device. Considering the release of the Motorola dp3400, we can reasonably expect the price to drop a little more as well soon, but probably not by an implausible amount, as both models do seems to concentrate on slightly different areas.
Overall, it does appear to be Motorola are offering an excellent radio-based product for your money, yet again.
THE PERFORMANCE
The look is hardy and utilitarian; this is the sort of 2 way radio a security guard or professional soldier might use. Its tough, square edged and no-nonsense, however it still looks modern and specialist. Over this, the Dp2400’s easy use makes the simplicity of the design a perfect marriage of model and operation.
As with most of Motorola’s radios, the DP 2400 is a robust little doohickey. The bodywork is so tightly sealed, in fact, that it’s almost wholly dust and sand proof and has a water protection rating of IP55 (which means you can use it in the rain, but you probably can’t take it snorkelling).
The audio performance of the Motorola dp2400 is nothing short of spectacular. It even adjusts the sound levels to compensate for background noise automatically, much like the iphone.
In reality, so high performance is this radio, that it essentially meets US military standard 810 C D E F and G.
Really the only negative we could find was that the look was slightly bulky and also the battery was a little heavy, however, the battery life is so good that we really don’t mind. Besides, it’s reassuring to be completely sure that you aren’t about to lose the radio (you’d soon notice if you ever dropped it).
As an optional extra, you can even obtain a function that will interrupt an existing signal so they can deliver vital information without waiting for a message finish.
THE VERDICT
It actually does seem as if Motorola have thought of everything for this walkie talkie. What we’ve got here is a 2 way radio that is pretty close to perfection. It appears to do anything you could possibly want it to and, when ‘pimped out’ with all the optional extras, it will surely do a lot more besides.
There aren’t really any downsides with this 2 way radio, it works extremely well, is pretty much top of the line in its value range and is bang up to date technically. What more can you ask for?
